'How to Buy Your Dream Kitchen'
September 2009
_

If you’re ready to remodel your kitchen and you’ve decided go allout with luxury kitchens—the kitchen of your dreams—here’s how to get started.

The first step in buying your dream kitchen is to determine what you want. If you don’t know what your dream kitchen is, how can you expect kitchen designers to know what to build?

For ideas, flip through some design magazines, watch design TV shows, or browse the internet. You can also sketch ideas if you know how to draw and you have a good imagination.

Next, decide all of the different elements that you want. Write them down so that you can get a better idea of what you are asking for, and your kitchen designers can tell you what is doable and what is not, or how much your luxury kitchen is going to cost. Include flooring, cabinets, counter tops, appliances, and anything else you can think of that you want on your list.

Now you need to set a budget.  Think about both how much are you willing to spend, and how much you can afford to spend.

Choose a designer who can accommodate your needs and wishes, and get a quote on your dream kitchen cost.

If you need a loan, now is the time to apply for one because now you know exactly how much money you are going to need to finish the project.

Finally, be patient. If you’re completely redoing your kitchen it’s going to take some time. Stay positive, and before you know it your dream kitchen will be done.

'How to Decorate a Shabby Chic Kitchen '
September 2009
_

Shabby chic style, with a primitive, old fashioned, or country look, is very popular these days. You can decorate any room your house in shabby chic style, but the kitchen is particularly suited to this style, and you won’t be disappointed with the results of your shabby chic interior design.

First, clean your kitchen from top to bottom. If you want to make any changes to the kitchen design, such as hiring cabinet makers for new cupboards, or putting in a new oven, do this before you start to decorate. If you need to hire cabinet makers or kitchen designers, you should do this well in advance.

Interior design should start with the basics. Think about your floors and walls. Are you happy with them as they are? Will they look good against  shabby chic decor?

Next, choose wall cabinets and shelves. Corner shelves and pigeon holes like old wood typeset drawers are particularly suited to the shabby chic style. You may also want to buy other items like towel racks and spice racks to fit your new theme.

Now you need to choose decorative items. Look for old fashioned looking items and antiques like old toys and dolls, coloured glass bottles, old tins, mismatched china, fancy spoons, embroidered handkerchiefs, and lace doilies.

Choose one or two main colours to focus on. These should complement the floor and walls. Choose curtains in one or both of your main colours. Disperse other coloured items amongst the main color items.

For ideas on how to arrange items and decorate, look at some interior design magazines, or vintage issues of women’s magazines.

'How to Decorate Your Bathroom '
September 2009
_

If you’re ready to practice your interior design skills and redecorate your bathroom, there are a few things you should think about before you get started. Interior design doesn’t have to be difficult, and it doesn’t have to be expensive.

First, decide if you want to have your bathroom professionally-designed before you decorate it. Is there anything broken or damaged that needs to be fixed? If so, now is the time to hire bathroom designers, not after your decorating scheme is half finished. If bathroom designers have to come in to fix your cabinets or replace your linoleum while you are painting your walls or hanging curtains, chances are you will have start all over.

Next, decide what themes and colours you want in your new bathroom. If you want to paint the walls, think about a light colour or neutral colour that won’t be hard on the eyes, and will go well with most decor in case you decide to redo the room again.

If you intend to purchase a new shower curtain, bath mat and rug, you may want to choose these items before painting your walls. That way you can easily match your paint choices to the colour of these items.

Choose towels in a coordinating colour, or a different shade of the same colour as your walls or shower curtain and rugs. Don’t add too many different colours.

Finally, choose some decorative items like pictures for the walls and small knick knacks to put on shelves or the sink.

'Designing Your Dream Bathroom '
September 2009
_

Designing your dream bathroom can be a lot of fun. But the whole process can seem a bit daunting to those who have never done it before. Deciding what you want from your bathroom designers is probably the biggest hurdle. Once you know that, your luxury bathroom is only a matter of time and money.

To decide what you want in your dream bathroom, start jotting down ideas. Look at decorating and design magazines to get some ideas. You can even look in women’s magazines as these often have ideas on home decorating.

Once you know what you want, look for bathroom designers online, in your telephone directory, and in decorating and design magazines. You can also ask friends and family for recommendations. Whenever you see a bathroom you like, even if you don’t know the people who own the house that well, ask them who designed it.

Choose a designer you feel comfortable with. Do you trust them? Do they seem to know what they are talking about, and have the right qualifications? Ask to see examples of their work to determine if they can provide you with the results you want.

Set a budget and stick to it. If this means you need to take out a loan, do so. There is nothing more annoying and embarrassing than having to stop a design project in the middle because you can’t afford to finish it.

Tell the designers what you want for your luxury bathrooms and ask them for a quote. Now it’s time to get started!
